Housing the agency's main offices as well as
the Residential Program, the St. Margaret Street facility has
offered uninterrupted services for pregnant South Carolina women
of all ages since 1932. Length of stay may vary from one to six
months, with a average of three months. Services include
individual, group and family counseling; pre-natal care; health
education and prepared childbirth preparation classes; vocational
support; daily exercise program; weekly classes in parenting,
adoption, human sexuality, anger management, stress
reduction/relaxation techniques, self-esteem and independent
living skills, and a wide variety of cultural, spiritual, and
leisure- time activities.
Post-partum is a major part of the services
offered, and clients begin working with their social worker soon after admission to insure the best outcome for both mother
and baby.
